So if you’re an old petrol head from Cape Town it would be somewhat of a norm for you to head down to Killarney Race Track every end of December. Reason being is to celebrate all things we racing addicts consider good and wholesome. We come together to watch some of Cape Town’s fastest and loudest street drag racers. This year was no surprise in the entertainment value department however the host being Killarney gave their yearend bash a new name calling it StreetFest. [more]

When the name Mercedes Benz comes to my mind I naturally think of terms like status, luxury, refinement and German engineering, or even ones like uptight, snoot and old fart. And generally they are associated with the older folk from doctors and lawyers to rich business men. Sportiness was never really a word linked with the brand. But how things have changed over the last few years. Mercedes Benz have managed to rebrand themselves in the sports car market making some mental machines like the C63 AMG all the up to the SLS Black series. But even with all that there was a market they never really tapped into, the hot hatch market, until now. [more]

This story should actually begin with "once upon a time". Way back when there were three brothers who were obsessed with Alfa Romeo’s. The Alfa Giulietta's they owned weren't any ordinary models. These three Giulietta's belonged in their own permanent car show. They were daily drivers which were also pristine show cars. When parked at racing events, they received the sort of attention only reserved for supercars. These beauties would constantly be surrounded by droolers and gawkers for as long as they were parked. We were recently invited to check out the newly renovated workshop of the Fataar brothers from Alfa Bodyworks in Athlone Industria. Since we haven’t seen them in ages a visit was highly overdue and we were keen to check out the much talked about workshop for a tour. Alfa Bodyworks was established in 1997 by Moeneeb and Shameeg and specialize exclusively in the fields of panel beating, chassis straightening and spray-painting. They are member of SAMBRA which see's them have the highest possible grading for bodywork repairs. [more]

Let me start off by saying that getting this content up was somewhat of an uphill battle. What I mean is that between me, Vaano and Nish, we accumulated roughly just under 4000 photos for the day. I managed to knock it down to about 500 of the best, for your viewing pleasure. So the event, RevLife 2013… the name that was on everyone’s lips for weeks on end, was sadly but thankfully postponed from the Saturday to the Sunday. The week prior to the event was filled with hours of heat and cloudless days, but as everyone was watching the weather forecast, Mother Nature had other plans. [more]

Porsche. The first thing that comes to mind is the classic 911 model. Jeremy Clarkson calls them beetles but even though the two cousins share some similarities like being fairly round in their design, both are rear wheel drive and most importantly, as Jeremy would say, both have their engines in the wrong place, the back. And as similar as that may sound, oh how far apart the two of them actually are! Beetles are associated with hippies and flower power, while Porsche has undoubtedly become one of the world’s leading sports car brands. [more]
